During times of depleting resources, sustainable shipping and supply chain solutions are becoming increasingly important, both environmentally and economically. In order to meet customer demand, IGS Intermodal has specialised in resource-friendly shipping and supply chain solutions for many years now. Beyond that, sustainable and efficient shipping is an essential part of our corporate philosophy.

Shipping along the long routes between seaports and the inland destinations of our network involves the use of eco-friendly modes of transport: the railway system and inland waterways. At our own terminals and depots we use low-emission transshipment equipment (such as particle filters and AdBlue technology) in handling your containers. Our state-of-the-art fleet meets our important requirement for consistent eco-friendly transport, even on the first and last few miles of the route. The IGS Group attaches great importance to environmental sustainability in all its transport decisions, which we always coordinate with our customers’ economic needs. For example, the IGS Group has invested in hybrid locomotives, LNG trucks and gantry cranes with energy recuperation, thus helping to reduce the use of resources and emissions and protecting our environment. We monitor sustainability in our annual emission reports.
